How much do custom blinds, shades, and shutters cost in Austin?

Custom window treatments usually range from under $100 to over $1,000 per window. The price depends on the product, window size, material, operating system, motorization, and number of windows, so an exact quote needs the actual windows measured. That is why Made in the Shade Austin includes a free in-home consultation — we bring the mobile showroom to you, measure every window, show samples in your home's real light, and tailor the quote to your project.

What window treatments are best for beating the Texas heat?

Solar shades are the top choice. They block the sun's heat and up to 99% of UV before it enters, which keeps rooms cooler and stops fading. Roller shades (our featured top pick) go smart with motorization, and cellular shades add insulation to lower your energy bill. Our spectrally selective solar shades cut heat and glare while preserving your Hill Country view.

Are you locally owned?

Do solar shades really keep rooms cooler and protect my furniture?

Our spectrally selective solar shades are tuned for the intense Austin sun. They ease your AC through the long Texas cooling season while keeping your view.

Can my shades be motorized and smart-home ready?

Why a Room Can Feel Unfinished With Only Blinds or Shades

The Problem: A room can feel hard and unfinished with only blinds or shades on the windows, and the tall, dramatic great-room windows of a Hill Country home can feel especially bare. Hard treatments alone rarely deliver the softness, warmth, and designer style a beautiful Austin home deserves.

The Solution: Custom drapery solves both the look and the function. Layering drapes over your shades adds depth, softens sound, and frames your view with warmth and style, while the extra layer helps with light and heat control. Whether framing a two-story view window or softening a bedroom, our drapes are tailored to your exact windows from thousands of premium fabrics, with motorized tracks for large or hard-to-reach windows.

Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Drapery in Austin

Does drapery help with the Texas heat?

Yes, as a layer. Drapery alone is not a heat barrier, but layered over solar or roller shades it adds depth plus extra light and heat control, and heavier linings help insulate and darken a room. We design the pairing for your windows.

For primary heat control we pair drapery with solar or cellular shades.

Can I layer drapery over my existing shades or blinds?

Yes. Layering custom drapes over shades or blinds is a designer favorite. It adds a finished, high-end look, softens light and sound, and gives you an extra layer of control. We tailor the drapery to coordinate with your current treatments.

Can drapery be motorized?

Yes. Motorized tracks open and close your drapery by remote, app, or schedule, which is ideal for tall two-story windows and wide great-room glass that are hard to reach by hand. We set up the automation during installation.

How many fabrics can I choose from?

Thousands. We bring a wide library of premium fabrics, colors, and textures to your home so you can match your style exactly and see each option in your own Austin light before you decide.
